We put nets on the vines to protect them from birds.  Not only can they steal a lot of our precious grapes, but they can taint the berries they leave behind.  

Its a big job, not only to put the nets on but to prepare the vines to be ready - the vines needs to be plucked, grass mowed and any last minute sulphur sprays made (to minimise botrytis).
